BUTTERFLIES

Years ago, I heard N. Scott Momaday, Native American Pulitzer Prize winner, speak in Santa Fe at St. John’s College. He told a story of an old Medicine Man who went out for walk one morning. Before him a swarm of butterflies emerged as a sign of ultimate beauty, endurance, hope, faith, and wonder. The Medicine Man felt blessed. Butterflies are symbols of transformation, the ability to go through important changes in our live with grace and lightness.
